He is a crack shot with superhuman fighting skills. He is also a man of honor who believes in Old Testament vengeance. He travels the country by Greyhound bus and stays in cheap hotels.

Reacher is asked to investigate a mass shooting. The accused is a former army sniper that Reacher knew in Iraq. He discovers more than he bargained for.

Tom Cruise is very good and likable as Reacher. It is a crime film with plenty of action. The rest of the cast is excellent.

This is a fantastic action movie. Cruise is very watchable and the character of Jack Reacher sort of unfolds as the movie progresses. There's not a lot of depth here, the story itself is not that cohesive or compelling, yet the writing is great and Cruise delivers his lines perfectly and there is a sort of philosophical element.

There's some humor in here as well that is really quite priceless, dry and subtle. It makes the movie click.

Also, the action sequences are really good, way above most action films. They are not over the top and CGI laden but rather, simple, realistic and extremely well executed.

The car chase is a good example. The sounds, the camera work, the way Cruise runs through the gears. How many movie car chases have been done with a sound track the meshes perfectly with the car, the right amount of gears and synced to the actors shifts.

The devil's in the details and this movie sweats those details and it elevates it. There's nothing hokey about the action sequences, it is realistic and satisfying.

If you like Chevy muscle cars, you'll find extra bonuses in a cowl inducted '70 Chevelle SS which gets a very intense work out and a lot of body damage during the car chase sequence.

It should also be mentioned that the female lead is played by Rosamund Pike who plays the idealistic defense attorney to a T and plays off Cruise perfectly.

She's also drop dead gorgeous and fun to watch. The entire cast played their parts well and gave excellent and intense performances. All in all I found this movie to be extremely entertaining in the ways that action movies should be.

The suspect remembers little about the crime and the plot thickens and starts to take off once Reacher begins to 'poke his nose' where it doesn't belong - according to the criminals that is.
