Its a satisfying sports drama that tells the real life tale of a probabtion officer who wants to help his juvenile dilenquents by forming a football team.

I found the plot very melodramatic, what I mean is that it tries a little TOO hard to be sad and emotional which is a huge problem for inspirational films, but it didn't mean the plot was bad.

In fact, I found some of the characters of the kids to be truly satisfying and emotional, but the problem is that the character of coach Sean Porter who is based on a real person has no other backround in the film other than seeing his dying mother as she talks about how he was good at football, and I wanted to know what is pushing him to give these kids a second chance.

Overall it could've been less dramatic and focused more on sports and characters. Dwayne Johnson is a pretty good actor, I mean his character is plain and has no backround info so for what its worth I think he did a decent performance.

As for the rest of the cast, I thought this was a talented group of actors who will always be remembered as the football team in the Gridiron Gang.

I consider the best sports movies ever to be Rudy and Hoosiers, and the reason is because the kids in those movies have a true love for their sport, while these kids in this are playing because it will help them learn to do better in life, so it made this a bit different from other sports films which is why I think many critics don't like it.

This film is filled with many cliches that keep it from being different from other sports films, but its still an enjoyable movie with a good moral, good acting, a lot of heart, and even if it does follow the trend that makes most inspirational films fail, it has too many good attributes for me to call it a failed film, so I enjoyed it.

Oct 17, Gridiron Gang was a pleasant surprise. I did not expect to enjoy it, and at times it6 did have some so-so moments, but when you see it, you can see that the film has a driving message of hope, which is the key to the film's success.

Far from great, but quite entertaining, the film is an impressive feat for The Rock who is able to deliver a good dramatic performance here. Sports film, especially football films are a bit overdone, and we all know how they'll turn out in the end.

However, this is an interesting angle on the genre, and it works. Some viewers will surely enjoy it for The Rock range, and he lights up the screen.

The film at times could have been a bit better and there are a few scenes that should have been reworked in order to make the film stands.

Luckily there are plenty of much better scenes that give this film its power, and it is a thoroughly engaging experience for those that enjoy this genre.

Although never too original, this is an interesting twist on a football film, and like I said it's got a good message, which plenty of viewers can get behind and appreciate.

A fine mix of performances and a good screenplay rounds out the film to make this a film not to miss, and even for people that are skeptical about such films; Gridiron Gang has something for everyone and it is a well acted, directed film that is far better than many other films in the genre,.

Willie gives a motivational speech, and they go out and beat Barrington on the last play of the game.

It is revealed in the narration that they lost the championship game 17—14, but no one called them losers. A few months later, Sean's football method is officially made part of the program.

Nearly all the former members of the Mustangs are doing well in their new lives outside the detention center. Willie Weathers is playing football at a top boarding school, Kelvin Owens is playing football for Washington High, Kenny Bates is going to school in Redondo Beach and living with his mother, Junior Palaita got a job working for a furniture company, Leon Hayes is playing football for Dorsey High, Miguel Perez and Donald Madlock went back to their old gangs and are now in California youth authority prisons.

Bug Wendal was killed in a drive-by shooting in Compton, California. Only five of the players are back in jail. The movie ends with a new group of Mustangs training for the next season.
