La Harekaze supera per la prima volta l'equatore, e la responsabile di macchina Maron, approfittando di una sosta per riparare i danni riportati nello scontro con la Graf Spee, convince il resto dell'equipaggio ad organizzare una festa, e anche se inizialmente le ragazze sembrano prendere la cosa con molto poco entusiasmo alla fine ne esce fuori un evento divertente e spensierato.
La Musashi, inizialmente diretta alle Filippine , ricompare invece a due passi dalla baia di Tokyo , senza che il grosso della flotta impegnata altrove possa fare nulla per fermarla.
Quando poi la battaglia inizia, in un primo momento sembra che la flotta delle Blue Mermaid di rincalzo possa prevalere, ma al momento decisivo l'interferenza elettromagnetica prodotta dai topi portatori del RAT manda in tilt le navi giapponesi, e la situazione si ribalta velocemente.
Inizia lo scontro decisivo tra l'Harekaze e la Musashi, ormai a soli 20 minuti dall'ingresso della baia di Tokyo. La direttrice Munetani chiede ad Akeno e alle sue compagne di resistere per almeno cinque minuti, il tempo necessario ad organizzare le difese costiere necessarie a fermare la nave.

The Harekaze soon learns of a stranded mall ship and are sent to help evacuate its passengers. As Mashiro and Wilhelmina lead a rescue party, Mashiro gets caught up in a flood while rescuing a cat named Tamonmaru.
Just as Mashiro laments her bad luck, she is rescued by the Blue Mermaids, who take Minami's antibody with them, while Tamonmaru's owners deciding to let him stay with Mashiro aboard the Harekaze.
After the rescue mission, the Harekaze sails through a fog not knowing another ship was just near them. While sailing out of the fog, the Harekaze encounters another ship of their school.
Initially assuming to be the Musashi , it turns out to be the Hiei. The school orders the ship to monitor the Hiei while avoiding being hit as reinforcements from the Blue Mermaids were deployed, arriving in four hours.
The crew realizes that their course was leading to a residential area and worries that the infection will spread from the Hiei to the residents.
